Green Velvet Boxwood

Boxwood
🌿 GymBed
Scripture
John 15:1-2
The Green Velvet Boxwood is admired for its neat, well-shaped appearance. However, it doesn't naturally stay that way. To remain healthy and beautiful, it must be trimmed from time to time. While pruning may seem harsh, it actually removes unwanted growth and encourages the plant to become fuller and stronger.

Jesus used a similar picture when He described our relationship with Him.

"I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit."

—John 15:1-2

Just as a gardener prunes a shrub for its good, our Heavenly Father lovingly works in the lives of His children. Sometimes He removes habits, attitudes, or distractions that keep us from becoming what He desires us to be. At other times, He allows trials that strengthen our faith and draw us closer to Him.

While God's pruning is not always comfortable, it is always purposeful.

Hebrews reminds us,

"Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby."

—Hebrews 12:11

The goal of pruning is not punishment—it is growth. A wise gardener never cuts a healthy branch without a reason, and our Heavenly Father never works in our lives without a loving purpose. He sees what we cannot see and is shaping us into the image of His Son.

As you look at this Green Velvet Boxwood, remember that God is still at work in every believer. Trust the hand of the Gardener. Though His pruning may be difficult for a season, it is producing a life that bears more fruit for His glory.

Take a Moment

: Is God trimming something from your life today? Instead of resisting His work, ask Him to help you trust His loving hand, knowing that every cut has a purpose and every season of pruning is preparing you to bear more fruit.
